Induction stove and cheap LPG, which is more savings?

Induction cooker electric is expected to be able to replace the LPG stoves. Currently, PT PLN (Persero) has also started testing induction stoves in Solo and Bali.

PLN president director Darmawan Prasodjo said the cost of cooking with an induction stove could be much cheaper than an LPG stove. He said induction cookers are 10-15% cheaper than LPG gas cookers.

Darmawan also explained the comparison, first explaining that the price of the LPG stove so far per kg has reached Rp 4,250 according to the applicable subsidy rules. However, with various supply chain deals, the original price in the community could reach Rp5,250 per kg.

This means that to cook with the energy of LPG gas reaching 1 kg, people spend up to Rp 5,250 per kg.

“In accordance with the ministerial decree, the price is released at IDR 4,250. Of course there is a supply chain with an average of IDR 5250 per kg”, said Darmawan in a working meeting with the VII DPR Commission, Wednesday (14/9/2022) .

“Of course, by using an induction cooker, the cost of cooking can save 10-15% compared to LPG,” said Darmawan.

According to Darmawan, so far, induction cookers can cook faster than LPG stoves. At least from the test results of the PLN Research and Development Center and the ESDM Ministry’s Balitbang, heating 2.5 liters of water from 20 degrees Celsius to 90 degrees Celsius with induction cookers can do it faster.

Test results show that an induction stove with 1,800 watts of power can heat water in 8 minutes and 47 seconds. Meanwhile, the LPG stove takes 10 minutes and 29 seconds.
