The women’s singles representative for Indonesia has run out Badminton Asia Championship 2023. It’s after Gregoria Mariska Tunjung dikalahkan Chen Yu Fei.
In the quarterfinal match at Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan Noor Indoor Hall, Al Nassr Club, Dubai, Friday (28/4/2023) evening WIB, Gregoria went through the rubber game with 10-21, 21-19, and 13-21 in 59 minutes .
Gregoria could only provide resistance at the start of the first game before falling far behind Yu Fei. After trailing 3-4, Gregoria easily conceded points to 6-9.
In the first game interval, Gregoria trailed 6-11. After the interval, Yu Fei added another 18-8 lead before finishing the first game 21-10.
The second game was tight because Gregoria got up and could trouble Yu Fei. Numbers were chased from the start until Gregoria narrowly won 11-10 at the interval.
Gregoria stepped on after the interval to leave Yu Fei with a 18-13 advantage. However, Gregoria lost control because Yu Fei actually approached and even leveled the score to 19-19.
Gregoria managed to get out of trouble in the second game and won 21-19. The third game was conducted to determine the winner and Gregoria failed to maximize the momentum.
He immediately trailed 0-6 at the start. Despite catching up, Gregoria trailed Yu Fei 7-11 in the third game interval. Yu Fei was able to widen the gap after the interval at 10-16.
Yu Fei closed the third game with 21-13 and qualified for the semifinals of the 2023 Badminton Asia Championships. Meanwhile, Gregoria’s death meant that Indonesia had only sent one representative in the mixed doubles semifinals.
There are still Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan, and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting who will compete in the quarterfinals tonight.
