Indonesian Navy Inaugurates KRI Bung Karno-369 on Pancasila Day with Presence of Former President Megawati Sukarnoputri and TNI Commander

The Indonesian Navy inaugurated the KRI Bung Karno-369 to coincide with the commemoration of the Birthday of Pancasila June 1 2023. During the inauguration of the KRI Bung Karno, the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia was present Megawati Sukarnoputri until TNI Commander TNI Admiral Yudo Margono.

Upon arrival at Kolinlamil, Megawati, who was wearing a blue dress, accompanied by Commander Yudo and KASAL Muhammad Ali, immediately took the seats provided.

KRI Bung Karno-369 entered to strengthen the ranks of the Indonesian Navy fleet. The naming of the KRI Bung Karno and the momentum for the delivery of the ship on June 1 coincide with the Birthday of Pancasila.

The choice of the name of the 1st President of the Republic of Indonesia is with the hope that the KRI can emulate Bung Karno’s persistence in fighting for the independence of the Indonesian people and safeguarding state sovereignty.

The Bung Karno-369 corvette is here to strengthen the Indonesian Navy fleet which will be operationalized in support of the implementation of military operations for war (OMP), as well as supporting military operations other than war (OMSP). In addition, this new corvette will replace the presidential ship KRI Barakuda-633 which has been in operation for 27 years.

The ship will be armed with one 40mm Leonardo gun, two 20mm heavy machine guns and two surface-to-air missile launchers. KRI Bung Karno will be equipped with a torpedo and sonar, and is designed to be able to carry Panther helicopters and has a helideck similar to the Bung Tomo class corvette.

On this occasion, the inauguration ceremony for the Commander of KRI Bung Karno-369 was also held by the TNI Commander, Admiral Yudo Margono, who confirmed Lt. Col. (P) Krido Satrio Utomo as the first commander of the KRI.
