Indonesian Badminton Players Experience Ranking Decline in BWF 2024 Update

Jakarta

Starting in 2024, World Badminton Federation/Badminton World Federation (BWF) has again updated the ranking list of the world’s top athletes. Ranking BWF 2024 had a negative impact on two pairs of Indonesian badminton players.

It is the men’s doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and the women’s doubles Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti who have experienced a change in position in the world top 10 ranking list as of January 16 2024.

They experienced a decline in ranking in the second week of January 2024. Fajar/Rian, who were originally in sixth place, are now in seventh place ranking BWF 2024.

They exchanged places with Japanese men’s doubles, Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi. Apart from Fajar/Rian and Hoki/Kobayashi, the players in the top 10 in the world have not changed.

Meanwhile, Apriyani/Fadia experienced a drastic decline after dropping to ninth position. Previously, they were ranked sixth ranking BWF.

This decline in ranking is considered natural considering that Apri/Fadia did not appear at the Malaysia Open last week, so there were no additional points.

Switching to mixed doubles, Rinov Rivaldy et al also experienced changes ranking BWF. This week, three pairs of Indonesian badminton players are ranked 18th to 20th.

Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja currently occupy the highest position in Indonesian mixed doubles. Following Rinov Rivaldy/Phita Haningtyas Mentari, and Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati.

Meanwhile, in the singles sector, both men’s and women’s did not experience significant changes. Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Jonatan Christie are still in fourth and fifth place, while Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo is in 26th position.

Meanwhile, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung is ranked seventh. Meanwhile, Putri Kusuma Wardani is ranked 31st.
