Individual scholarships from the Baden-Württemberg State Graduate Funding at the Art History Institute in Florence (Max Planck Institute) | H-Soz cult. Communication and specialist information for the historical sciences | History on the net

The Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts provides two grants to support doctoral projects in the subject of art history from funds from the state’s graduate funding. The scholarships are awarded by the Art History Institute in Florence – Max Planck Institute in cooperation with the University of Heidelberg.
Doctoral projects with a research focus on the history of art in Italy and the Mediterranean region from late antiquity to modern times are eligible for funding.

Only candidates who have been accepted as doctoral candidates at a university in Baden-Württemberg are eligible to apply.

Applications for an individual scholarship at the KHI can be submitted immediately. Please note the information and notes on application listed below.

Start of application: March 1st, 2021
Application deadline: April 28, 2021

Start of scholarship: August 01, 2021
Scholarship duration: up to 3 years
Scholarship amount: Probably 1,610 euros / month including a flat-rate allowance for material and travel expenses of 110 euros / month

Application requirements

– Completed university degree
– Acceptance as a doctoral candidate at a university in Baden-Württemberg
– Scientific supervision by a professor
– Outstanding qualifications and a scientific project that can be expected to make an important contribution to research

Please note

– Applications received after the application deadline as well as incomplete applications cannot be considered.
– If you withdraw your application, we ask for immediate notification.
– As a rule, a scholarship cannot be awarded to anyone who receives equivalent funding from public or private bodies for the same doctoral project or who has received it for a period of more than 12 months. The duration of funding received from another party will be offset against the funding period of the individual scholarship. If you have any questions, please contact the Graduate Academy of Heidelberg University.
– An employment relationship during the funding period must be related to the doctoral subject or to a possible occupational field after completing the doctorate. The activity must not exceed 25% of full-time employment per month.
