A gang leader has been shot dead in a court in the Indian capital New Delhi as he was brought before the judge. Two gunmen opened fire on Jitendra Gogi before being shot and killed by guards themselves.
Gogi, about 30 years old, was notorious as a gangster in Delhi and for a long time was considered one of the most wanted men in the city. He was on trial for extortion, robbery and murder, such as killing a popular singer who would testify against him.
Gogi and his network of dozens of accomplices had been involved for years in a bloody gang war with rival criminals. According to the police, the gunmen were part of one of those gangs today.
It is not clear how the perpetrators got weapons into court. Lawyers are disgraceful that the security was apparently not sufficient.
