“The list of parties running in the European Parliament elections ends on May 3. Then I’m ready to debate every pro-war and dollar-left list leader. You can also come with a dictaphone and a belt. That’s it,” wrote Tamás Deutsch, leader of the Fidesz EP list, on his social media page.

The ruling party politician reacted to the news that Péter Magyar invited Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Ferenc Gyurcsány, the president of the Democratic Coalition (DK), to a debate.

“The Hungarian people deserve to see clearly and be able to make a decision in the June 9 election knowing the vision of the three sides regarding the future of Hungary and the Hungarian people. I hereby challenge Viktor Orbán and Ferenc Gyurcsány to a live three-way debate on public television. I am flexible with the time. Even Péter Hajdú (tax fraudster) can lead the debate,” Péter Magyar, the former head of the Student Loan Center, said on his social media page.

DK responded to the call ahead of Tamás Deutsch, saying that their EP leader, Klára Dobrev, is ready for the debate.

If the debate initiative concerns the European Parliament elections, Klára Dobrev, joint list leader of the DK-MSZP-Párbeszéd, is available. If the initiative is about a mayoral candidate debate, the DK mayoral candidate of the given settlement will be Péter Magyar’s debate partner

Tamás Deutsch’s initiative has already been accepted by the leader of the EP list of Jobbik – Conservatives, but it is not yet known whether Péter Magyar will accept the government politician and Klára Dobrev as debate partners instead of Viktor Orbán and Ferenc Gyurcsány.
