Independiente drew 2-2 as a visitor against Barracas Central, in a match played at the Tomás Adolfo Ducó stadium in Parque Patricios and whose main objective was to be the sole leader of Group A of the 2024 Professional League Cup. Matías Giménez Rojas opened the scoring for the Avellaneda team, at 16 minutes of play, while Siro Rosané and Alexis Domínguez gave the advantage to “Guapo”, at 29 and 45 minutes of the first half, respectively. Already in the second half, striker Giménez Rojas once again tied the match, after 20 minutes.
With this result, Carlos Tevez’s team added a tie that prevented them from being alone at the top of the Group. Next Saturday from 7:15 p.m., for the tenth date, Independiente will host River at the Libertadores de América – Ricardo Enrique Bochini stadium, which if they win on this date will take them to the top.
For its part, Uruguayan Alejandro Orfila’s team has its fourth draw in the competition and was also unable to climb to the top of the tournament. Barracas Central’s next duel will be against Gimnasia de La Plata, next Friday from 5:00 p.m. at the Juan Carmelo Zerillo stadium for the tenth round of Group A of the League Cup.
