The percentage of children vaccinated under the National Vaccination Program has increased in almost all age groups. Most babies were vaccinated in North Limburg last year. This is evident from the annual report of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM).
In comparison with the national figures, babies in North Limburg are in particular vaccinated more often. 94.7 percent of children born in 2017 have had all the injections from the National Vaccination Program. North Limburg therefore has the highest vaccination coverage in the Netherlands.
The vaccination coverage for HPV (cervical cancer) has increased by 8.2 percent to 61.5 percent in North Limburg. This figure was 53.3 percent in 2018. Nationally, the vaccination coverage for HPV is 53.0 percent. Lidwien van Reisen, head of youth health care at GGD Limburg-Noord, reacts positively to the new increase in vaccination coverage: “We offer vaccinations as flexibly as possible to increase the turnout. vaccination coverage the smaller the chance that diseases will break out in the future. Together we must continue to emphasize the importance of vaccination. Vaccination is not only done for yourself, but also for others. “
In recent months, during the measures against the coronavirus, vaccinations for babies have been carried out at the clinic. Vaccination against meningococci for 14-year-olds has also continued in adapted form at the GGD locations. Vaccinations against diphtheria, tetanus, polio (DTP), mumps, measles and rubella (BMR) and the HPV injection were canceled this spring. After the summer, GGD Limburg-Noord will start to catch up on these vaccinations. This is done on a small scale and on an individual basis in accordance with the guidelines of the RIVM. The parents and children involved will be informed of this by letter shortly.
