POSJAKUT – Tuesday, 8 June 2022, the European Union Parliament passed UU The latest is related to uniform charging cable ports using USB-C for all electronic devices in Europe.
The policy will go into effect in the Fall of this year, between 23 September-21 December 2022.
USB-C uniformity will begin to be used for the production of new gadgets ranging from cellphones and tablets, digital cameras, e-readers, to laptops. No exception with iPhone which has consistently used lightning cable instead of USB.
Via the European Commission’s official Twitter account, this is intended as part of a reduction plan e-waste.
We have a deal on the common charger! ????????
This means more savings for EU consumers and less waste for the planet:
???? mobile phones, tablets, cameras… will all use USB type C
???? harmonised fast-charging technology
???? unbundling of sale of chargers #SingleMarket #DigitalEU pic.twitter.com/qw2cJV4RY0— European Commission ???????? (@EU_Commission) June 7, 2022
In addition, USB-C uniformity can harmonize fast-charging technology on each device and sell chargers separately.
Unfortunately, this policy actually received a lot of criticism from the public, especially regarding the reduction e-waste.
