Inaugurating Section II of the Semarang-Demak Toll Road, Jokowi: As well as a Sea Wall

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated Semarang-Demak Toll Road section 2 of the Sayung-Demak segment, Demak Regency. Jokowi said the 16.01 kilometer (km) long toll road was ready to operate.

“Alhamdulillah, this afternoon the Semarang-Demak toll road section 2 of the Sayung-Demak section has been completed and ready to operate for a length of 16.01 km,” Jokowi said in a broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube account, Saturday (25/2/2023).

The inauguration was marked by the emphasis on the siren and the signing of the inscription by Jokowi. The construction of this toll road will consume a budget of Rp 5.9 trillion.

“Spent a budget of Rp. 5.9 trillion. I just want to ask again that all toll roads that have been completed in the country so that governors, regents, mayors immediately connect, integrate with existing production areas in their areas,” he said.

According to Jokowi, Semarang-Demak Toll Road this could serve as a sea wall. The completion of the construction of section 2 is expected to prevent tidal floods.

“I really appreciate the Sayung-Demak toll road that has been built because the second one is also a sea wall,” Jokowi concluded.

The Semarang-Demak Toll Road is known as an oversea toll road that is integrated with the Semarang City Sea Wall. Apart from that, it also functions as a barrier to tidal floods, as well as overcoming floods and standing water which has been a problem for the capital city of Central Java Province. Photo: Doc.
