In Yaroslavl today they will conduct a construction examination of a house, where an entrance collapsed after an explosion of household gas. The Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified that after assessing the safety of structures, residents will be allowed to take things and documents from apartments. The incident happened the night before. Three people, including a child, were killed and four were injured. Search and rescue work has been completed.
The explosion thundered on the fourth floor of a ten-story building. At the very moment when most of the residents have already returned home from work.
“I turn my head and windows and curtains fly out from the other side of the yard. My husband immediately ran to the house. Four of them. They broke down the door on the 4th floor. They pulled people out. Grandma was taken out,” says Anastasia Timokhina.
The earth is strewn with fragments, doors and windows of neighboring houses are smashed, windows of cars are broken. Hundreds of residents are urgently evacuated. Everyone fears that the building may collapse.
“The cordon so that even more people do not suffer. Now citizens are being evacuated so that no more dire consequences occur,” says Alexander Smirnov, deputy head of the Department of Non-departmental Security of the National Guard Troops in the Yaroslavl Region.
Ambulances are taking four victims to the hospital. A few hours after the explosion on Batova, 5, building 2, rescuers continue to work. There is information that people may be under them. In addition, firefighters installed light towers and it immediately became clear that there were much more apartments that were damaged.
Inhabitants of the injured house come to their senses in the district administration. Now Pasha Potemin can calmly say what happened. And at the moment of the explosion, the boy was at home all alone: ”I started to panic. I ran to the neighbors, started shouting, suddenly someone died.”
“I was with my wife. We were getting ready to have dinner. How it crashed! Everything flew. The door jammed, the door is powerful, metal,” says a tenant.
The neighbors helped, says Yuri Klimov. Rescued – pulled out. Residents of the house are already ready to receive the hotel.
“Not only food and tea, but a full-fledged dinner. All the cooks, all the leaders came. We are trying very hard, waiting and will help all the victims as much as possible,” says the restaurant manager Kristina Sidelnikova.
And the victims want to find out the cause of the explosion of household gas.
“At this address, scheduled maintenance was carried out on January 26. Access was provided to all apartments, except for the apartment on the first floor. There were no comments on maintenance,” says the chief engineer of the gas distribution company Aleksey Sednev.
The regional Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the article “Providing services that do not meet security requirements, resulting in the death of a person.” All necessary assistance will be provided to the victims.
