in Wuhan, home of the virus that worries the world, life is slow

Since Thursday morning January 23, the city of Wuhan has been quarantined by the Chinese authorities.

Fever, respiratory problems … Like all the inhabitants of Wuhan, this student knows by heart the symptoms of this mysterious lung disease which appeared a month ago in his district of Hankou: “You have a fever and then you cannot breathe. Sure i’m scared“Cafes, hotels, shops are empty. Many people go out less, or even have chosen to cancel their trips.

At the dragon ice rink, located in the heart of a shopping center, a little girl turns alone on the ice. The girl at the reception explains that she has felt concern growing in recent days: “Things got more serious here in Hankou. For the past few days, parents have not been sending their children. They think they might get the virus. For the moment, I’m not afraid. I tell myself that if the children come to the rink, it is because they are in good health. So there is nothing to worry about“.

Surrounded by red barriers and constantly monitored, the Hankou seafood market has been completely isolated since the outbreak of the epidemic. And since this week, the other Wuhan agricultural markets have been closed. And it is now the entire megalopolis of Wuhan and its 11 million inhabitants who find themselves confined.
