In the United States, this policeman broadcasts Taylor Swift to avoid being filmed

MUSIC – There is a good reason that songs by Taylor Swift or other artists are enjoying some success with some American police officers. The reason, the APTP (Anti Police-Terror Project), an association which fights against police violence, discovered it during a demonstration which took place this Tuesday, June 29 in Oakland, California.

Activists wanted to put up a banner as the trial of a police officer accused of killing a young black man, Jordan Fletcher, in a Walmart supermarket in 2020. They were prevented from doing so by the security forces positioned in front of the court. A discussion then begins between one of the officers and activists present on the spot.

Streisand effect

The scene is filmed by a protester. Despite the disagreements, the tone of the discussion does not rise. Then a rather strange thing happens, while it is being filmed, the policeman pulls out his phone and starts playing the song “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift, as you can see in the video below.

Faced with activists who are surprised and question him about the reasons for this piece of music so suddenly, the policeman explains: “You can film as much as you want, I just know that it cannot be posted on YouTube”. When the activist asks him if there are specific directives on this, the policeman replies “that he is not informed”.
