Literary works that have not passed the “test of time”, such as Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn’s The Gulag Archipelago, should be excluded from the school curriculum. This was stated by the first deputy head of the United Russia faction in the State Duma, Dmitry Vyatkin, accusing the writer of “blotting out his own homeland in the mud.”
“This year, the necessary changes will be made to the school curriculum in literature, and at least a number of works by Soviet authors, including The Young Guard. Alexandra Fadeevawork Yuri Bondarev “Hot Snow” should be back in the school curriculum. Those works that have not stood the test of time, that do not correspond to reality, “gossip in the form of versions”, as Vysotsky wrote and sang, without any doubt, should be excluded from the school curriculum. According to him, the legislators are not going to take it easy, but they intend to restore historical justice in relation to Soviet works that instill a sense of patriotism and preserve historical memory. As an example of a work that should be excluded from the school curriculum, Vyatkin named Solzhenitsyn’s Gulag Archipelago.
“As shown by the historical analysis of the Gulag Archipelago, which has not yet been removed, and I think it will not be long in school programs, many facts were sucked out of Alexander Isaevich’s fingers, invented. Historians have checked all the facts. There was an attempt to get a prize for this – for the fact that he blotted out his own Motherland in the mud, ” – says Vyatkin.
He added that it is planned to collect all the proposals that come from public control on works that receive budget funding, including films, in the State Duma Committee on Culture. We are talking about works in which the authors “humiliate Russia and pour mud on it.”
Former President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin supported the idea of returning to the compulsory school curriculum several works of Soviet classics, including Alexander Fadeev, Konstantin Simonov.
