In the Christmas week on Netflix: The new series from “Grey’s Anatomy” -maker, “Fast & Furious” – supplies & more – series news

Netflix 2020 knocked out the big Christmas movies long before the holidays. Nevertheless, there are a few new films and series on the streaming service in the week of the festival itself that should be on the screen.

Netflix

Those who only like their film and series program around the Christmas holidays in a festive way will already be well served on Netflix with the original titles newly added this year such as “The Christmas Chronicles 2” and “Jingle Jangle Journey”.

But if you long for new Netflix entertainment on the holidays, completely apart from Christmas, you don’t have to despair over the next seven days.

These are the Netflix highlights of the week from December 21-27, 2020.

Monday: concert film by a superstar

After films about or by musicians like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande is another pop superstar who has made the leap to Netflix with his own film. “Excuse Me, I Love You” accompanies the singer during her world tour in 2019 and offers not only her performances but also insights behind the scenes.

Tuesday: New “Conjuring” chapter

With “Lloronas Fluch” there is one of the two youngest chapters from the growing “Conjuring” universe on Netflix on Tuesday (the two “Conjuring” films themselves and the spin-off “The Nun” can also be found there ). “Llorona’s Curse” is only loosely linked to the big picture and rather tells an independent horror story about a Mexican folk tale, which is about a ghost that primarily targets children.

If that is too scary for you, you can use the contrast program “Shaun the Sheep” instead. Netflix is adding more episodes of the celebrated children’s animation series to its streaming portfolio on Tuesday.

Wednesday: Sci-Fi by and with George Clooney

Three years after “Suburbicon”, Oscar winner George Clooney is back as a film director. For the post-apocalyptic Netflix drama “The Midnight Sky” he also appeared in front of the camera as the main actor.

As a lonely researcher in an Arctic station, he does everything in the film adaptation of the novel to warn a spaceship crew returning from an important mission of the conditions on earth that have meanwhile become hostile to life.

Thursday: Bollywood meta thriller

Thursday is almost a day of rest at Netflix, but with “AK vs AK” the streaming provider has at least something new on offer for fans of Indian cinema. In the black-humored thriller comedy, a director kidnaps the daughter of a movie star in order to then film her desperate search for the missing girl and land his next blockbuster.

One of the main actors is Anil Kapoor, who is a superstar especially in India, but has also made a name for himself internationally. For example, he left a lasting impression as a quiz presenter in “Slumdog Millionär” or as the Arab president in the eighth season of “24”. The latter even brought him the lead role in the Indian remake of the hit series.

Friday: News from Shonda Rhimes and Robert Rodriguez

After her huge success with “Grey’s Anatomy”, the series maker Shonda Rhimes signed a lucrative deal with Netflix, under which she developed her new formats exclusively for the streaming service. The first fruit of this collaboration is the history series “Bridgerton”, which focuses on the (romantic) trials and tribulations of the aristocratic family in England in the early 19th century.

And directing jack-of-all-trades Robert Rodriguez (“Sin City”, “Alita: Battle Angel”) has exclusive supplies for Netflix this week. With the superhero spectacle “We Can Be Heroes” he continues one of his family-friendly films (loose), namely “The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl”.

Meanwhile, there is action for an older audience with the thriller “Hunter Killer”, in which Gerard Butler embarks on a daring mission as a submarine captain to save the Russian President and thus prevent World War III.

Saturday: Season 3 of the “Fast & Furious” series

In the cinema we have to wait longer for the next part of the “Fast & Furious” saga due to Corona. The animated series offshoot to the action franchise is busy racing on. Just shortly after season 2, the third season of “Fast & Furious: Spy Racers” appears, in which Dominic Toretto’s cousin Tony’s troupe this time ends up in the Sahara, where they have to track down their missing agent boss.

Sunday: breather

If Netflix does not include a few new film pearls in its program again at short notice and without prior notice, the streaming service gives its subscribers time on Sunday to catch up on the restarts of the past week (s) or to simply end the peaceful Christmas season in peace.
