In Riga, a three-year-old boy is found near the men lying on the ground

On the afternoon of July 15, police officers from Riga received information about several intoxicated persons with a small child. The nearest Riga Municipal Police car patrol has been sent to the specified address.

Three men lying on the ground were spotted at the scene. A bottle of vodka was tossed right next door and a child about three years old was playing with toy cars. Apparently the intoxicated men did not respond to the police ‘calls to get up. Afterwards, the boy was also addressed, asking who his father was, and the boy pointed to one of the men.

It was also noticed during the conversation that the child was bleeding from the knee. Therefore, it was decided to call the Emergency Medical Service. The child underwent a medical examination, as well as the wound was treated. During it, it was found out that the boy did not need hospitalization.

Police tried to find out the boy’s mother’s phone number from the child’s father in order to take the child to her, but the intoxicated man could not remember the woman’s phone number. After a short time, the name of the boy’s mother’s job was found out. In turn, it was possible to find out the mother’s phone number through the indicated company. The woman immediately called and asked to come to the scene. The boy’s mother explained that he had been home for three hours now. The woman was noticeably excited because the boy’s father had not been able to call and find out his son’s location. At the same time, the child’s father was tested for alcohol concentration in the breath. During the test, he was found to be under the influence of 3.53 per cent.

Shortly afterwards, the boy’s mother arrived at the scene, whom he immediately recognized and ran into. The child was handed over to the mother, after which the law enforcement officers made sure that the child’s home had appropriate conditions.

Case materials on non-fulfillment of childcare responsibilities were sent to the RPP Children’s Offenses and Prevention Division for the assessment of father’s responsibility.
