The secretary of the Department of Health of Puerto Rico, Dr. Rafael Rodríguez Mercado, announced Friday that 44 dialysis clinics, out of a total of 46 throughout the island, are operational, being the West Ponce Dialicentro and Yauco Dialysis Center clinics , the only ones closed, after structural damage to their facilities due to seismic events.
The staff of these two clinics determined with the patients, where they would be relocated to continue receiving their treatments, as well as the corresponding shifts.
“Although the dialysis service is one offered and managed by two private companies (Atlantis and Fresenius), the state in which the clinics that provide this service are located is one of the most important issues,” Rodríguez Mercado said in written communication. .
As reported, only the West Ponce clinic and Yauco Dialysis Center currently remain closed, so they relocated these patients to another of the 44 operational clinics.
