In October 2020, the actual unemployment rate in Latvia was 7.7%, which is 0.3 percentage points less than in September, according to the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) Labor Force Survey (LFS).
The unemployment rate registered with the State Employment Agency (SEA) was 7.4%, which is 0.3 percentage points less than in September.
Compared to October of the previous year, there is an increase in the unemployment rate – 2.1 percentage points for the actual unemployment rate and 1.7 percentage points for the registered unemployment rate.
In October 2020, there were 74.9 thousand unemployed in Latvia, which is 2.5 thousand less than in September and 20.8 thousand more than in the corresponding period last year.
In the last 8 months since the declaration of the first emergency situation, the number of unemployed has increased by 3.3 thousand in comparison with the actual monthly unemployment data of February 2020.
