In Nigeria: Students stoned a Christian woman, burned her body – World

insisting that the suspects be released.

Some protesters marched on the palace of Mohammed Saad Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto and a top Islamic authority in Nigeria, who condemned the killing and demanded that the perpetrators be tried. The mob wanted police to stop harassing people identified as participants in the killing, Ibrahim Arkila, a local resident, told AFP.

Security forces guarding the palace demanded that the protesters disperse, but they became uncontrollable, said Bube Ando, ​​who lives nearby.

Police and soldiers threw tear gas grenades, fired into the air and dispersed the crowd, he added.

The angry mob then marched to the city center, where they tried to loot Christian-owned shops, but were dispersed by police, said another local man, Farouk Danhili. According to him, the city has calmed down.
