In New-York, GIPHY exposes emotions in an unprecedented and immersive way

NEW WINDOW is the next chapter of the brand campaign « Be Animated » by GIPHY, aiming to bring animation and personal expression to unexpected places in the heart of New York. In collaboration with the artist Sam Cannon, the immersive exhibition intends to capture the attention of passers-by thanks to its new generation screens!

GIPHY: the campaign « Be Animated » continue !

At the start of 2021, « Be Animated » explored self-expression through surreal lenses. In the fall it was « Frame by Frame », the first animated GIF art book where kinetic formats like lenticular holograms and stickers made the printed pages move in surprising ways.

The last exhibition « Be Animated » by GIPHY, titled NEW WINDOW, features Sam Cannon’s exploration of human emotion, empathy through a new film and installation on the Lower East Side of New York City. Observation is from sidewalks, making it a safe outdoor experience in COVID-19.

NEW WINDOW, when art innovates!

The experiment uses specialized screens that make video invisible to the naked eye, but when viewed through ” Windows “ suspended, the film and a “Visible whirlwind of emotions”. A unique visual experience that highlights the creativity of the image bank !

“NEW WINDOW is inspired by a collective loss of control and the way we face the unknown”, says Cannon, who filmed swinging people tied with a harness. “Their expressions are constantly changing as they turn – sometimes they are afraid and, in others, they are happy. Their lively faces and bodies are a reminder of the violent ups and downs, moments of loss and beauty that we have all experienced over the past two years. There is a loss of control, but there is also wonder in times of surrender. “
