The superhero Spider-Man, arguably one of the most famous of all time, will remain on Sony consoles. At least, that’s what we’re learning today from Square Enix and studio Crystal Dynamics. Their game Marvel’s Avengers, which will soon enter beta phase, will indeed count on the presence of the spider-man. However, sOnly PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players will be able to play the popular character.
It is in 2021 that Spider-Man will be added to the selection of superheroes in Marvel’s Avengers. The free download is enough to cringe and give juice to all those who, rightly and wrongly, militate against exclusives. This has a precedent since Marvel’s Spider-Man Insomniac Games has been developed exclusively for PlayStation 4. Still, limiting access to such an important character is a shame and gives me flashbacks of Soul Calibur.
For his introduction to Marvel’s Avengers, Spider-Man will be accompanied by a special event in-game. Crystal Dynamics defines this event as a multitude of unique challenges that will test the spider-man’s abilities.
As a reminder, Marvel’s Avengers is scheduled for PC (Steam, Stadia), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One September 4. A version for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles will follow in time for the holidays.
