No meetings: the municipalities, in charge of the control

Yesterday the Province decided to abide by the decree of necessity and urgency issued by the national government to prohibit meetings throughout the national territory.

Juan Ledesma, coordinator of the Emergency Operations Center (COE), indicated that the municipalities and communes will be in charge of controlling that these measures are met.

“The COE does not carry out controls, but recommendations. These operations are carried out by the Police and, fundamentally, the municipalities and communes. We have a free line that receives complaints, with which it is linked to the prosecutors’ offices and the police control, ”he explained.

In the COE they are aware that there cannot be a police officer in every home. Ledesma asked for the collaboration of the neighbors: “The participation of the community will be important, a thermometer to know what is happening in the homes. Because a police mobile that makes a tour cannot determine what happens inside each home, “he added.

The Province had enabled family gatherings in the city of Córdoba, for up to 10 people, on June 13, when he was in compulsory isolation and registered community transmission. Weeks before, he had enabled them inside.

Social gatherings (not family) were never authorized in Córdoba.

The provincial Ministry of Health was already warning that meetings that exceeded what was allowed were a reality.

“We have seen with alarming concern the lack of social responsibility in certain sectors of the population, which does not discriminate between social classes or the intellectual level. The norms are not being respected, for that reason the decision to abide by the national decree ”, reinforced Ledesma yesterday.

Provincial Minister of Health, Diego Cardozo, had stated days before that most of the new outbreaks originated from illegal social gatherings.

“In the beginning, the most affected community was of the upper class, with people returning from Europe or Brazil. Later, the pathology turned to the most vulnerable extremes, because the workers linked to those travelers were infected. Now we are seeing a stronger impact in the media sectors, which are the ones with the most frequent social events, ”argued Cardozo.

The minister remarked that the outbreaks that originated in Marcos Juárez and Oliva already far exceeded the other relevant one that was registered in Villa Dolores. In Oliva, for example, he said that an average of 60 close contacts was registered per positive case. That number already doubled the averages measured in previous outbreaks. And they attribute it to social or family gatherings, outside the limits of the norm.

Also days before this resolution was known, Gabriela Barbás, Secretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, anticipated that something similar was detected in the Marcos Juárez outbreak: “We find ourselves in an exhausted society, disbelieving pathology, because they had never had A case. When the virus enters a place where it has all the doors open, it is very easy for it to spread quickly, due to the high rate of contagion that the infection has, “she said.

Although infections are registered in work settings, most of those detected in recent weeks originate from illegal meetings, Cardozo said days ago.

Until Children’s Day

Family gatherings are prohibited for 15 days. In Córdoba they had been enabled first for Saturdays and Sundays. A first adjustment, when the increase in cases in the province began to worry, occurred when resolving that they were only admitted during Sundays.

The current measure is valid until Sunday, August 16, so it includes Children’s Day.

No change for bars

The national measure, accepted by Córdoba, does not imply changes for the gastronomic activity that is authorized throughout the province, under certain protocols.

Bars and restaurants will continue to function: meetings of up to six people are allowed in these spaces. Only those that are within strict strings will not work for recent Covid-19 cases.

“According to the impact of the pathology on the territory, it is still not considered necessary to close bars and restaurants in a general way. Yes they are prohibited in the cordon of route 9, from Río Segundo to General Roca, as well as in the rest of the strict sanitary fences of the Capital and the interior. At the moment, the suspension of activities is carried out in focused places, where outbreaks occur, “said Ledesma.

New sanitary cords in Córdoba

They were added yesterday in Cruz Alta and in two neighborhoods of Capital.

Yesterday strict sanitary cords were added in the Altos neighborhoods of General Paz and Villa 9 de Julio, to those already established in Zumarán and San Martín Norte, in the city of Córdoba. In the interior, those of Oliva, Oncativo, Luque, Marcos Juárez, General Roca, Los Surgentes and Monte Buey follow. Also in the neighborhoods of Santa Rosa, Río Cuarto, and Punta de Agua, in Malagueño. And the restricted cords continue in Malvinas Argentinas, Pampayasta, James Craik, Tío Pujio and Villa Dolores; and Cruz Alta joined.
