In Madagascar, Interior Minister survived a helicopter crash and swam to shore for 13 hours (video)

Minister Serge Jelle decided to take part in the rescue operation, but ended up in a disaster as a result. The official was discovered by a fisherman in a canoe.

On Monday, December 20, the Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Madagascar, General Serge Jelle, was in one of the helicopters, from which they searched for the victims of the shipwreck. However, the helicopter fell into the ocean, and the minister had to spend 13 hours in the water until it was discovered the next day. About it informs Reuters.

It is noted that the minister used a helicopter seat as a raft. “I could not cope with the waves and realized that I would not get to the nearest shore, although it was very close. We fell half a kilometer from the shore, but I was tired, the waves carried me further,” the minister recalls.

He was discovered by a fisherman on a canoe. But due to the fact that the boat was designed for only one person, we had to return for a larger boat. Therefore, the minister stayed in the water for several more hours.

The helicopter mechanics were also found alive. The other two were not found.

What is known about the sunken ship

The death toll in the crash of a cargo ship off the northeastern coast of Madagascar, on which there were 130 people, has reached 83. The search for the remaining passengers has been suspended due to bad weather, they are scheduled to resume on Thursday.

The Maritime and River Agency’s operations director, Mami Randrianavoni, said the ship did not have a permit to carry passengers and was overloaded last Monday and water flooded the engine compartment.

Previously Focus reported that in the USA the snowboarder managed to survive the avalanche… He also captured his rescue on camera. All thanks to the airbag.
