For the occasion, Georges meric , the president of the Department, was accompanied by Sebastian Vincini and Maryse Vézat-Baronia , departmental advisers of Canton of Auterive .
«In 6e , I was told that I will make my comeback of 3e at Cintegabelle. That was 31 years ago! “, Remembers Sébastien Vincini, the mayor of the town, as if to prove that the opening of this college was eagerly awaited in the area. By welcoming no less than 400 students, the establishment will relieve congestion in the neighboring college ofAuterive .

Jean-Marc Mansour , the architect of the project, was able to show elected officials the progress of the site.
For nearly an hour, he guided the Department’s delegation through the huge structure under construction. “We won’t be late! “ , could we hear in the premises of the future school life of the college.

A “very clean” site
It is on the lower left part of the college that the entire administration is located: school life, administrative rooms and principal’s office .
In this last room which overlooks the neighboring houses, Sébastien Vincini assures us that there has been no negative feedback from residents concerning the nuisances linked to the works. “It’s very clean! », Congratulates the city councilor Cintegabellois. Georges Méric also echoed this view by welcoming the good performance of the site.

A bright music room
The rest of the visit led the small crowd of ten people upstairs in the school building. The delegation was able to visit the heart of Documentation and Information Center (CDI) and a huge room that will be dedicated to technology .

Right next to it, there are two similar rooms: that of music and that ofarts . One of the walls is made entirely of glass which will allow the room to be lit by daylight.

A project worth 16.5 million euros
On the first floor, a balcony, sheltered by a roof with a wood frame , gives a breathtaking view of the playground , the reliefs and greenery located near the budgeted structure 16.5 million euros . A substantial budget which can be explained by the various operations carried out on site.

Alongside college, three official accommodation , a sports platform , a parking bus of eight places, one 60-space parking area , a exterior square and one drop-off will be built on a floor area of 5 600 m2 .

€ 921,000 for archaeological excavations
For six months, preventive excavations were carried out on the site of the future college of Cintegabelle. These allowed the discovery of 650 items, including 420 graves and 200 coins. Laboratory analyzes will be carried out for the next two years. “The first conclusions attest to successive occupations ranging from Antiquity to the 13th century AD,” indicates the Department of Haute-Garonne, which has borne the costs of these excavations. These amount to € 921,000.

Geothermal energy for heating
After strolling through the corridors, visitors descended to the future cantine , located on the lower right of the building. As in the music room, a large bay window will illuminate the refectory.

After the canteen, it was the turn of the boiler room to be visited. The opportunity to take stock of energy. For heating, the college will use the geothermal thanks to an installation of heat drilling 150 m underground .
Of solar panels will also be placed on the roof of the enclosure. “They will make it possible to meet the energy consumption of the college, with an annual balance sheet balanced between the energies produced and consumed”, indicates the Departmental Council.
Students welcomed from September
Inside, the visit ended with the teachers room . Note that a computer room will be located near it.

Outside, the chairman of the Department took the floor to remind that students will enter the classroom in two stages .
Due to the delay linked to the health crisis in Covid-19 , the Departmental Council provides for a provisional establishment, budgeted at 800 000 € , which will open its doors from September 2021 start in modular prefabs. However, only students in the three classes of 6e will be welcomed there.

Once the work is completed, all the students of the other levels will join these three classes in order to enter this brand new college.
The site which housed the temporary equipment will be repaired and redeveloped into a landscaped area. The Department specifies that “a large number oflocal species trees are now being planted on the ground around the new college ”.
What name and what options for the college?
Asked about the future name from the Cintegabellois school, Georges Méric explained that there was, for the moment, no progress on the subject. The name of the college could be submitted to a citizen dialogue .

Ditto concerning options which will be offered to the students. Discussions are underway with theEducation nationale to decide. These questions should be answered in the coming weeks.
