With a school card changed in 2019 due to the establishment of the new Jean-Moulin college in the former premises of the National Higher Institute of Teaching and Education (Inspe), in Chartres, many college students, especially Farman and Fulbert districts, to have to go to their college, rue du Maréchal-Leclerc, by bus. But this sectorization is not to everyone’s taste.
“There was a college closer, ten minutes walk,” explain some parents, who regret that their toddlers have to take public transport to go to class. According to them, transport conditions are far from optimal, especially in the morning and evening: delays, too long travel times, crowded buses, sometimes unfriendly drivers or even students sometimes refused …
“Nothing has been done to absorb the seventy schoolchildren who make the Saint-Chéron-college Jean-Moulin route every day”, indignant Cécile Gomes, president of the association of parents of pupils (APE) of Henri-Farman elementary school. “All we want is a back-up line,” claims another mother. “The students are too stressed out in the mornings, they have a lump in their stomachs. They don’t even want to go to school anymore, ”she continues. To realize the situation, the parents therefore invited two elected officials, Karine Dorange, in charge of town planning and works, and Dominique Dutartre, in charge of school affairs and early childhood, to be part of the trip to on line 5 then 6 of the Filibus network.
7h18, at the Fulbert stop: around twenty students are waiting for their bus scheduled for 7:21 am… Among them, Myriam Aisha and Neila. “It’s armored, we don’t even have room to go in,” said the first. “The last time, we almost failed,” says the second. The APE had however requested in January 2020 the creation of a “reinforcement line”, between the Fulbert stop and that of the Jean-Moulin college, with a connection in the morning and one in the evening in order to absorb these new staff.
7h21 : At the scheduled time, the line 5 bus, direction Mainvilliers, arrives. 7:25 am: After only two stops, the bus is almost full with around 70 people on board. The two elected are in the middle of the bus, packed. “There are people on the bus. Yes. It’s true. But in principle, we do not run empty buses. You have to be consistent, ”said Karine Dorange, clinging to a handful. “There are adjustments to be made, we do not deny it”, continues the elected. Moreover, changes have already been made since the start of the school year, especially on Wednesday, “where there was a small problem,” she says.
But she remains adamant: “There will be no additional bus. Assigning a dedicated line as desired by the parents of students would cost 200,000 euros per year, ”recalls the elected, who does not, however, rule out adjusting the service if necessary. “The director of the local public company of Chartres metropolis transport came, he doubled the transport on Wednesday. We are vigilant on all points, ”assures Karine Dorange.
