The market of the Noon will reopen Sunday morning with fifty booths in a first time, announced the alderman saint-gillois of economic Development, Francesco Iammarino, Saturday morning.
The commune had declared last week its intention to reopen the market from Noon Sunday, subject to the availability of additional personnel necessary for the supervision.
The final decision is ultimately fell on Wednesday. If the market of the Noon typically generates financial returns on the year for the municipality, it is working this time at a loss to revive the market. It is indeed necessary to consider the investment necessary to organize its reopening and on the other the suspension of the payment of the locations because of the confinement.
More than 200 stalls usually
The market area will be demarcated with barriers Nadar crowd control. “We tried to respect the diversity of the market, to clothes, vegetable, butchers…”, details Francesco Iammarino.
“A draw was made to determine who would go first, because the idea is to create groups of fifty traders to be able to do rotating. No vendors of plants
As a reminder, the market for Midi usually has more than 200 stalls. Only the merchants of the plants will not be present for the moment.
These had a considerable share of their clientele that usually comes specifically from the outside of Brussels, and given the lower attendance expected, they feared, according to the alderman, not to cover their costs. The organization of the market recovery by the municipality was conducted, from the beginning, together with the street.
