In Bourgoin-Jallieu, hospital and clinic will work together for a service dedicated to breast cancer

The regional health agency wants public-private partnerships. In Bourgoin-Jallieu, new example dated with the announcement during the vows of the management of the Pierre-Oudot hospital, this Tuesday, of the forthcoming submission of a file with the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul clinic for the opening of a senology department. This is’a service that treats breast cancer. And the ARS, which is for this creation, wants it to go through a common dossier.

It will be remembered that the neonatal service could only have been created in March 2016, after years of disagreement, within the framework of an imposed public-private partnership. The two establishments will therefore again have to work together for this new service. But unlike neonatology, there is no question that the clinic and the hospital will house the service every other year. No moving regularly. A shared team is mentioned, recruitments specific to each establishment.

Avoid certain trips to Lyon

The objective displayed is tohave the most complete local network possible for breast cancer patients. “We can do a mammogram in the clinic, chemotherapy in the hospital, but today, it is impossible to have surgery in Bourgoin-Jallieu”, explains François Rouchette, the director of the clinic. If this service is created, this will be possible and this will avoid journeys to Lyon. “Travel sometimes even leads some patients to hesitate to seek treatment”, continues his counterpart at Laurence Bernard hospital.

This service should also be able to make punctures, which is not possible today in the clinic as in the hospital. However, the radiotherapy sessions will always take place in Lyon. The staff of the two structures will continue to rely on so-called benchmark establishments in Lyon. The different stages, forms of breast cancer that cannot all be treated in Bourgoin-Jallieu.

The ARS must therefore study the file that the clinic and the hospital will soon present. The creation of this service is expected within a few months.

Force Ouvrière, the majority union at the CHPO and which boycotted the vows on Tuesday, regrets learning from the media about this project and deplores the prospect of a new partnership with the private sector.
