Christina Alexopoulou, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, spoke of a great day, as the first electric buses.
It is noted that the project concerns two large cities, with Athens receiving 140 electric buses and Thessaloniki 110.
“Urban transport now has routes with anti-pollution technology”, noted the deputy minister, stressing that after Easter the electric buses will be on the roads.
Our country received the electric buses and chargers, while at the same time it is working on the charging infrastructure of the electric buses in order to put them into operation in the next period of time.
Electric buses will take four hours to charge.
The goal of the ministry, Ms. Alexopoulou emphasized, is to renew the bus fleet.
“We need to have more buses with anti-pollution technology and more buses on the road. Because we want to strengthen urban transport, we need to change the culture,” he said.
For the railway
Among other things, Christina Alexopoulou stated that the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is with the railway operators and requests the close cooperation of Hellenic Train and OSE, always within the framework of traffic rules.
“We requested in a letter that responsibilities be assigned where and when we have a violation of the general regulation. We want a comprehensive upgrade of the Greek railway. We are now giving more money to the OSE, in the summer of 2023 we gave 75 million euros. It is a difficult exercise,” he said.
