Cologne | There are three dates in North Rhine-Westphalia for the film music spectacle “The Sound of Hans Zimmer & John Williams” in April and one of them is in the Cologne Philharmonic.

The two musicians stand for their very own and unmistakable tonal language and if you wonder who is Hans Zimmer and John Williams, you just have to hear the film title and immediately know which sound it is. Without the two musicians, films like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Interstellar, Gladiator, ET or Schindler’s List would never be as intense as people perceive it in the cinema. Hans Zimmer and John Williams are Hollywood composers with a special style.

As a renowned conductor and film music specialist, Benjamin Pope takes over the musical direction and, together with the ensembles, presents the musicians of this exceptional genius. Both were not only celebrated by the audience for their compositions, but also received several awards. Hans Zimmer received his first Oscar nomination in 1989 for the soundtrack of the film Rain Man, won an Oscar ten years later for the film music of the Lion King and is also the winner of three Grammys and two Golden Globes. With numerous nominations and awards, John Williams is one of the most influential in the world
most successful composer. With 51 Oscar nominations to date, the US-American is the most nominated person in Hollywood history after Walt Disney and won the coveted award, for example, for his music for films such as Jaws (1976) and Star Wars
(1978), ET (1983) and Schindler’s List (1994) and 24 Grammys.
