In America, the third lunar eclipse of 2020 will be seen between July 4 and 5 | International | News

The Thunder Moon is the astronomical phenomenon that America is preparing to witness between the night of Saturday, July 4 and the dawn of Sunday, 5. This moon will coincide with a penumbral lunar eclipse that will also be appreciated in Europe and Africa in a subtle way.

The penumbral eclipse consists of the moon passing through the twilight of the Earth and a shadow of the satellite is evident, although it is not so noticeable. In this case it is expected to last 2 hours and 45 minutes.

The portal La República explains that the Thunder Moon owes its name to the fact that it is the full moon in July, but in North America it is the most frequent season of thunderstorms.

The one of July 5 is the third penumbral eclipse recorded in this year, the other two occurred on January 10 and June 5, but were best appreciated in Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia.

What time and where can you see the lunar eclipse of July 4 and 5

Beginning of the penumbral eclipse: 22:07:23 (Ecuador time)

Maximum eclipse: 23:29:51 (Ecuador time)

Fin Eclipse penumbral: 00:52:21 UT

The portal indicates that the event can be seen from Canada to southern Chile, also in southern Europe and Africa. (I)
