In a market in Edirne: no matter how much they say it’s more expensive, it’s not at all like in Bulgaria

Inflation in Turkey broke a 24-year record and reached 86% in just one year. Prices are rising, for both local and Bulgarian consumers, who have been looking for cheaper food, clothes and services in our southern neighbor for years. Edirne is located 20 kilometers from the Bulgarian-Turkish border. It is known for low prices and a large market. Bulgarians meet here at every step, reports NOVA.

“No matter how much they say it’s more expensive, it’s not at all like in Bulgaria,” Tanya Dimitrova emphasizes.

And while everyone decides what is profitable for them, depending on how much money they have in their pockets, Bulgarians here are unanimous on one thing: the prices are much higher, unlike last year.

Calculations show that if last October 100 lire bought certain goods, now for these same goods you will already need almost 190 lire. The annual jump only in the foodstuffs that Bulgarians mainly seek out is 99%.
