IMSS family medicine consultations decrease in pandemic


The family medicine consultations in the offices of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), have decreased 27.6 percent since the pandemic began, since previously 12,800 were provided and today there are 9,266.

There is a monitoring plan for patients with deferred appointments, which will be gradually integrated according to the instructions of the authorities, regarding the permitted mobility and traffic light in which the municipalities of the entity are located (Photo: Special).

As long as specialty consultations went from 2,540 to 1,996; in addition to that the attention in urgencies happened of thousand 567 to 912.

According to the institute, care has been maintained in family medicine units and hospitals, and the reduction is due to the request from the population, go only when necessary and actions were implemented such as the refillable prescription and the delivery of medications at home.

This with the aim that patients with controlled conditions, could have access to their treatments and reduce the mobility of people and therefore the risks of contagion.

Actually There is already a follow-up plan for patients with deferred appointments, which will be gradually integrated according to the instructions of the authorities., regarding the permitted mobility and traffic light in which the municipalities of the entity are located.

The urgent attention to the users of the IMSS services in other illnesses other than COVID-19, was maintained, through family medicine units and hospitals that, in the case of the IMSS Poniente, are hybrids.
