Improvisation with bass and violin inspires – Weir

Multi-instrumentalist Steven Bailey and the band performed at the Alte Schlosserei in Wehr. Their repertoire: improvisations and rock classics – but also soft tones.

The music was as diverse as the band: Bailey is American, Hope is Canadian, and Eva Ka is Greek. He started with an improvisation on bass violin in the duo Bailey Hope, who have been playing together for 25 years. “She’s drinking music,” Bailey greeted the audience after the first impromptu interlude. The evening continued with hits such as “Hotel California” by the Eagles and singer-songwriter songs, with which Eva Ka made her way into the hearts of the approximately 20 over 50 guests, especially in the slower songs.

The evening was far from politically correct: bassist Hope came on stage too late – Bailey threw one after another saying: “You in the audience. You look like Annalena Baerbock. I hope it’s not really you, Annalena “. Meanwhile, conductor Gérard Reichert filled the guests’ and band’s shot glasses with ouzo at regular intervals. Multi-talented, entertainer to the core, Bailey has performed at every level.

Eva Ka stumbled with the fastest songs; two rounds of ouzo later, however, she worked her way into the roughest hearts in the backseat with slow-paced songs.

“From a boy who has never seen his father. Again, because I feel longing again. In this town, I will always be a stranger – and all alone.” No pop songs from modern times, but a rough voice and true lyrics.

Born in Virginia, Steven Bailey has lived in Germany for nearly 30 years. You can find it in Europa-Park in Rust in the “Silver Lake Salon”, in the “Rock-Café” or on the stages of various other bars and restaurants. In Rust he also runs the “Rooster”, a small “Bed and Breakfast” near Europa-Park.
