Impact of Gapeka on Satay Sales in Plered, Purwakarta

Jakarta

PT KAI has implemented a Train Travel Chart (Gapeka) system. The effectiveness is inversely proportional to the traders around the station because their stalls are quiet.

The atmosphere of Kampung Sate Maranggi in the Plered area, Purwakarta Regency is not as usual. Rows of satay stalls looked lethargic. Not many visitors come to enjoy satay which is synonymous with Purwakarta Regency.

The lack of visitors to Kampung Sate Maranggi, which is next to the Plered Train Station, turns out to have a reason. The existence of the implementation of the train travel chart (Gapeka) has made the interest of visitors to come to Sate Maranggi village to decline.

In addition to having an effect on the efficiency of train travel time, Gapeka has also caused changes to departure schedules, stopping stations and train numbering on most trains, both long-distance trains and local trains operating in the Daop 2 area of Bandung.

One of the affected trains is the local train for Garut-Purwakarta. According to the schedule, the train stops at Plered Station for only 15 minutes. Whereas in the previous schedule the train could transit or stop for hours.

This condition caused the customer of Sate Maranggi in Plered Sate Maranggi Village, Purwakarta to drop sharply. Even though they usually make money from train users who temporarily get off at Plered Station.

“It’s very impactful, because before it took a long stop it could take hours so I could rest first, the passengers traveled and there were lots of people eating satay, now there’s only one or two, and even then buy the satay that’s ready, because there’s little time,” he said Yuri Angraeni was met by detikJabar at his sales place, Friday (2/6/2023).

Yuri said that when there was no schedule change at Plered station, customers who got off the train could buy up to hundreds of skewers of satay. However, due to the limited time, they are reluctant to get off because they are afraid of missing the train.

“This change has been a long time coming, after the pandemic, last year or so. Usually the Bandung residents are in groups here to eat satay now, what they have is they are afraid of missing the train, so they buy what they already have and a little bit,” he said.

He did not ask for a change in the train schedule again, because that had already been determined by PT KAI. It still exists even though it has experienced a decrease in violations from railroad passengers.

What is Gapeka?

Previously, the long-distance train departure schedule had changed starting June 1, 2023. Passengers will experience a shorter trip duration.

This change is in accordance with the implementation of the 2023 Railroad Travel Chart (Gapeka). PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) seeks to increase the acceleration of travel time on 140 long-distance train trips.

Meanwhile, the trains experiencing accelerated travel time are the executive, business and economy classes from the Jakarta-Surabaya pp, Jakarta-Solo pp, Bandung-Surabaya pp, and others.
