Image supposedly shows Nvidia Tesla A100 module with six hbm2 stacks – Computer – News

An image has appeared online of what would be Nvidia’s Tesla A100 module, showing a GA100 GPU of the new Ampere generation. It can be seen that the GPU is combined with six stacks of hbm2.

The image, which has been put online by VideoCardz, contains an sxm module. Nividia also uses that format with its current one Tesla V100 accelerator. VideoCardz has not received any further details about water in the image, but it would be the Tesla A100, which Nvidia will presumably present later today during its GTC 2020 keynote.

The image shows that the GA100 GPU is combined with six hmb2 stacks. This means that the new data center GPU will have greater memory capacity and more memory bandwidth. For example, Samsung makes 16GB hbm2e chips, which would allow the Nvidia module to have a total of 96GB.

The dimensions of the sxm module shown do not exactly match those of previous generations; Nvidia may adjust the form factor slightly. Nvidia is expected to present Ampere GPU architecture at its GTC 2020 event. It will initially be used in Tesla products for data centers. There may also be a modified consumer version for GeForce video cards later. Nvidia’s presentation starts Thursday afternoon at 3 pm Dutch time.
