Mughal, one of the founders of Italian National Singers, spoke on the chaos that arose after that Aurora Leone of The Jackal accused Gianluca Pecchini of sexism. The artist’s accusations made a lot of noise. But most of all, they made some people make drastic decisions. A slew of musicians who were supposed to take the field for The Match of the Heart they withdrew (Ramazzotti, Meta, Random, Federico Rossi and others), expressing closeness and support to Leo. Pecchini resigned from the role of general manager of the National Singers’ team. However, after the event, the same manager totally rejected The Jackal’s version, categorically denying having ever uttered sexist phrases and explaining that he resigned to prevent the demonstration from being canceled. A few days after the storm, Mogol takes the floor.
“I was there and I did not hear the offenses that Aurora reported”, says Mogol, interviewed by the Campania newspaper Il Mattino. The famous lyricist then added: “I was at dinner, but I didn’t hear those words. They tell me that one of these guys’ managers said ‘Now I’m going to build a casino’ and they did. I think the episode was greatly magnified thanks to social networks“. So Mogol, in a far from veiled way, argues that all the fuss that has arisen has been ‘mounted’. And in fact, on the basis of this reasoning, he narrates that he advised Pecchini not to resign. Advice not followed, given that the dg of the National Singers has instead resigned on Tuesday 25 May.
“I advised him not to resign. I talked to him, he was destroyed, but he wanted to do it to safeguard the game that had been in the balance for many hours and wanted to be played “, concluded Mogol. The story caused a lot of discussion: none of the singers, even those who joined the ‘withdrawal’ from the match, witnessed the fight firsthand. There are also those who claim it was a huge misunderstanding that then generated the social storm that has been discussed so much.
In the end, Gianluca Pecchini continues to declare himself innocent and has no intention of admitting any guilt, also because he professes to be ‘immaculate’ as regards the issue of sexism. Aurora Leone, on the other hand, does not back down and reiterates that those sentences were addressed to her. Of the same opinion Ciro Priello, the winner of the first edition of Lol – Who laughs is out and a member of The Jackal.
