Illegal refugees were detained at Struma

Illegal migrants from Afghanistan have been detained again. This time they were found in a van traveling on the Struma highway near the capital’s Lyulin district on Monday morning.

The driver of the minibus in which the foreign citizens were was also arrested.

The minibus with nearly 30 people crammed into it was stopped by SDVR teams. The call was made shortly after 8:00 a.m.

In front of the uniformed, the migrants declared that they were from Afghanistan, the SDVR informed BNR.

The van driver is a 20-year-old Bulgarian citizen. The Ministry of Internal Affairs adds that he is known to the police.

There are no illegal migrants in serious health condition. It is established what was the route of the bus with the migrants. Captured foreign nationals will be interrogated and taken to some of the Refugee Agency’s or MIA’s migrant hostels.

Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case.
