NORTHWEST PACIFIC. – In the face of the global pandemic of the new coronavirus COVID-19, some people have rushed to the hospital or health clinic to be tested for the virus. But specialists ask the population not to go to a health center because they are exposed to the risk of contracting the disease and / or could infect other people.

Before running for the test:

  • Contact your GP to report any symptoms you have.
  • If you do not have a GP, please call 211 so that you can be referred to the place or corresponding specialist
  • When you call the doctor, tell if you have recently traveled and why you think you may have been exposed to the virus
  • Consult a doctor before self-prescribing any medication
  • If you have not managed to contact a health specialist, then apply the self-isolation method for 14 days until you are sure whether you have contracted the disease or not.
  • If you need emergency help, call 911

The COVID-19 test will not be administered to anyone unless a doctor or health specialist so determines. Currently in the state of Oregon, the COVID-19 test is performed by the Oregon State Public Health Laboratory (OSPHL) under the approval of the Oregon Health Authority. If the test is authorized, OSPHL will not charge for the exam.

If a person is ill with COVID-19 and does not have health insurance, visit 211infor.org or call 211 and learn more about the resources available to treat you.
