Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) regretted the attitude of the Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP) Moeldoko who responded to the study on the ‘Ivermectin promotion’ by reporting to the police. ICW said the move showed the arrogance of power.
Moeldoko’s lawyer, Otto Hasibuan, dismissed the notion that his client was arrogant. Because, Moeldoko had sent a subpoena to ICW 3 times before reporting it to the police.
“Yes, this is added, right. The proof is that they really don’t want to apologize. If he is the arrogance of power, Mr. Moeldoko will not make 3 summons,” said Otto to reporters at the National Police Criminal Investigation Department, Friday (10/9/ 2021).
Otto said that Moeldoko had come personally to the National Police Headquarters to report, not represented. He questioned ICW’s arrogance.
“imagine, a state official 3 times made a subpoena. And the proof again, he’s not taking the law into his own hands. But come to Police Headquarters. Take legal channels. What is arrogance?” he said.
Otto said Moeldoko deserved to be called arrogant if he ordered the police to come to his office. But the situation is the exact opposite.
“If he is arrogance, he doesn’t need to come. The police just come and are told to come to KSP. That’s possible, right? But Mr. Moeldoko came here, it shows his humility. So the accusation of arrogance is not correct,” added Otto.
Otto also alluded to the accusation of ‘exporting rice’ which was also targeted at Moeldoko. He regretted that ICW was half-hearted in apologizing.
“Look, this is their complete report, right. So, if the report is complete, he can’t be half-hearted, please. Now he reported half-heartedly, and also didn’t retract the statement. And he’s sorry it was just like that in one go regular mail and inside talk show, but not seriously revoked. You can’t take it in half, I’m sorry, “he said.
Otto asked ICW to seriously apologize to Moeldoko. He also asked ICW to drop the accusations related to rice exports.
“Later, Pak Moeldoko will also partially apologize. So if we want the term to solve a problem well, then the solution must be completed,” he said.
“But the most important thing is that he has to drop the charges. That’s first. Number two, after he withdraws, then he apologizes,” continued Otto.
Otto said that the report to the police was carried out because ICW did not withdraw the accusation against Moeldoko regarding rice exports.
“If he apologizes but the charges are not withdrawn, that’s the same as accusing Pak Moeldoko,” he added.
