The death toll in the New York region rose to 13 from flash flooding caused by Storm Ida, authorities said Thursday.
Police said nine people died in New York City, while four lost their lives in Elizabeth, in neighboring New Jersey, a mayor’s spokesman told AFP.
Local media reported that at least 22 people lost their lives in the New York region.
