Ice hockey: KAC solves ticket for the pick round

HC Bozen South Tyrol (63 points), Moser Medical Graz 99ers (63), EC Panaceo VSV (62) and Orli Znojmo (61) compete for the last two places in the pick-round on Sunday.

Fourth in the table Bozen and seventh Znojmo will meet in a direct duel on Sunday, the sixth VSV must go to the leader in Salzburg, and the KAC will compete in the eighth placed Liwest Black Wings Linz (59). After a 3: 4 defeat after extension at the Dornbirn Bulldogs, the Upper Austrians have to go straight into the qualification round.

Salzburg secures CHL ticket

Salzburg secured first place in the basic round with a 3-0 win at Fehervar AV19, thus solving the ticket for the Champions Hockey League (CHL) next season. The “Bulls” easily won in Hungary with goals from Brent Regner (40.), Chad Kolarik (53.) and John Hughes (59./EN)

In Klagenfurt, the guests from Vienna took the lead through Mike Zalewski (15th), but the defending champion struck back with goals from Manuel Ganahl (18th), Matthew Neal (24th / PP) and Stefan Geier (39th) and starts as Third in the intermediate phase.

The Graz 99ers were 1-0 ahead in Znojmo thanks to a goal by Joakim Hillding (24th) until the final third. In the last section, the Styrians conceded four goals in a row. In the final minute, Hillding only managed cosmetic results to the final score of 2: 4.

VSV keeps the chance for the pick-round

The VSV saved their chance for the pick-round with a 4-2 at stragglers Innsbruck. Linz caught up 0: 2 at the rear light in Dornbirn and even led 3: 2, but had to take the equalizer in the final minute through Stefan Häußle. The Blackwings were finally sent to the qualification round in the extension by 4: 3 by Charles Robin Gartner (61.). Bolzano was free of play.
