Denis Matsuev – A person who can spend hours enthusiastically discussing everything related to music, but limit himself to a dry commentary on his personal life. A pianist living in a civil marriage with the prima of the Bolshoi Theater Ekaterina Shipulina, recently gave a rare interview about life with a ballerina and a little daughter.
The musician said that quarantine brought into his life a sense of unity with his wife and three-year-old Anna. Due to regular tours and a tight schedule of performances, Matsuev had hardly seen his daughter before. Sometimes Denis’s meetings with the child lasted only a couple of hours (between airplanes). At times, Shipulina and her daughter accompanied Matsuev on tour, but it was rather tiring for the ballerina.
Because of the pandemic, Denis stayed at home for three months. During this time, he became very close to his wife and little heiress. He said that he “met his daughter” again during quarantine.

Matsuev said that his daughter has an absolute ear for music, but he will not insist that she necessarily build a musical career. According to the virtuoso, Anna loves to draw and has a bright temperament. Perhaps she will find herself in another profession. Matsuev is ready to accept any choice of daughter.
Recall that Denis became a father in October 2016, but talked about adding to the family only six months later. It is known that Matsuev’s relationship with the ballerina began more than 10 years ago, but, as they are surrounded by the couple, they still have not decided to register a marriage.
