It was 6:26 am on April 22, the day of the ministerial meeting at the Planalto Palace that would have Sérgio Moro resign as Minister of Justice and accuse the Brazilian president of trying to interfere politically in the Federal Police, when the judge’s cell phone Lava-Jato whistled.
“Moro, Valeixo leaves this week”, Jair Bolsonaro had written on the other side. “This has been decided”, the second message arrived, within seconds. “You can only say the form,” continued the Brazilian president. “Upon request or ex officio.”
It was more than three and a half hours before the meeting video was released this Friday, by order of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court, and which confirms that Bolsonaro tried to change the command of the Federal Police, namely in Rio de Janeiro – but that, in the Brazilian president’s version, continues to lack evidence of anything.
“What part of the video contains the least evidence that there was any interference by me in the Superintendency of Rio? Or any other state? Or in the PF general directorate? Zero. There’s nothing. This is a shot in the water, not even a blank shot, a trick, ”said Jair Bolsonaro in an interview after the video was released.
Now, hours after the images, disclosed written messages by several Brazilian newspapers proving that, contrary to what the Brazilian president has claimed, it was not the security body of his family that he was referring to at the meeting with the ministers on April 22.
“I’ve tried to change people from our security in Rio de Janeiro officially and I couldn’t. This is over. I will not wait f. my whole slutty family, or friend of mine, because I can’t change someone from the safety of the line that belongs to the structure. Will change; if you can’t change, change his boss; you can’t change the boss, change the minister. And period. We are not here for a joke ”, one can hear at one point in the video, which gave rise to Bolsonaro’s alternative justification.
The sms now revealed prove definitively that it was the purpose of Maurício Valeixo, director-general of the Federal Police, who, incidentally, had previously tried to dismiss, that the Brazilian president was speaking.
“President, on this subject we need to talk in person. I am available to do so ”, he limited himself that day, eleven minutes later, to answer Sérgio Moro. It was 6:37 am. The meeting would begin at 10 am. The next day, the then minister would resign.
