Should compulsory vaccination be imposed on the entire population? For several months, several parties have been calling for a parliamentary debate on the issue. It is now done: from next January 26, a whole series of hearings will be organized in the Chamber to decide on the subject.
This Tuesday, the Health Commission of the Chamber has also agreed on a list of 17 experts – scientists, members from civil society … – who will participate in the debates. Among these, we find in particular big names like Marius Gilbert, Emmanuel André or Pedro Facon. Infectious disease specialist Leila Belkhir was also selected, to her surprise.
” I was not called… I discovered my participation Tuesday afternoon on Twitter” , she was surprised this Wednesday evening on the set of the RTBF. The infectiologist at Saint Luc University Clinics deplores this unfortunate communication: ” I think it would have been more correct to ask people first if, if only in terms of timing, it was possible”, she hammers . “I still have a job that takes me a lot of time. So on the form, I have a problem”.
The infectious disease specialist was also surprised that Twitter users already know his opinion on the matter: ” I never expressed myself on this subject. We know that I am for vaccination, but the question of compulsory vaccination is different” , she nuanced.
However, the expert was delighted that a debate was finally taking place in Parliament on the question of compulsory vaccination, and that scientists were especially invited to it.
