“I am inspired by everyone who performs, succeeds, influences and gives respect to singing even in old age”

Cultural childhood memory: I will never forget that they took us from the kibbutz (Shaar-Emekim) to see the play Peter Pan in Haifa. The main actress was Gila Almagor, and I – sitting in the first rows – did not stop looking at her especially when she connected to the cable and flew in the air, it was innovative and surprising. The book that influenced me as a child was “Little Women”. I read it in Spanish while on mission with my parents in Argentina.

A book you read twice: “Dancer without Legs” by Clara Asher-Pinkhoff – the dramatic autobiographical story of the author’s life during the Holocaust. The book drew me in strongly and I read it over and over again until I received a phone call to return it to the library.

A character that inspires you: There are many figures who inspire me: David Grossman, Yoram Gaon, Chava Elberstein, Hanan Yuval and others who perform, succeed, influence and give respect to poetry even in old age.

Who would you like to sit with for a cup of coffee: I would love to sit down for a cup of tea with the journalist and media woman Rina Mesih because she is genuine, open, smart and loves a Hebrew singer. I would bring Yitzhak Rabin to the meeting so that the three of us could talk together about the state of the country today.

Who would you like to swap with for a day: I would be willing to switch for a day with any radio broadcaster – to talk into the microphone about the simple things in life and broadcast songs that I love.

A song that touches you in a special place: Every time a different song touches me and then I imagine myself singing the song and teaching it to my students – it must be a song with emotional content. These days it is the song “Shabouri Lev”, performed by Hanan Ben-Ari.

What is the food you can’t resist: I can’t resist a vegetable and avocado salad. In addition, I have a weakness for the combination of mocha, caramel, milk jam, nuts and mango ice creams.

What do you fall asleep with: When I’m tired I crash and don’t need any help. My husband claims that when he starts saying “night” to me, at the word “good” I’m already asleep.
