Internet users consent to the delivery of our data and everything we generate on the network, by our own decision. Every time we download a free application like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Tiktok, Twitter, WhatsApp etc. And we accept the terms of service and the privacy terms of the provider companies that come in small print, what we are doing is giving them permission to access all our information; to your phone, your microphone, camera, your videos, your image gallery, what we like, who are our friends, where we are going etc., which means that the photo you upload to one of those platforms, already it is not yours. They give you the use of the application in exchange for your data, which continues to be generated at every moment, every day and we are leaving our digital footprint.

In the Dominican Republic, digital citizenship continues to grow by leaps and bounds, so much so that a total of 5.7 million active users use Facebook every month (62.9%), in WhatsApp we have 6.2 million for 68.8%, Instagram has 2.9 million Of subscribers, 70% of the digital public watches YouTube video from their mobile devices, we already have more than 8 million mobile numbers, Snapchat has 1.4 million users, while Twitter only has 338,500 users, LinkedIn has 880,000 users.

In our country we already have more than 8.16 million internet users that represent 74.80% of the population, of which more than 7 million use social networks on mobile devices, which represents a penetration of more than 64.2% of the population, the world average is around 68%.

Our digital traces are available to all those who want to use them for x or for y; which means that this dataset that we leave on the web has a high value, to the point that it has become the next gold in the world.

Whoever masters the algorithms will have a great advantage in communication, marketing and politics; In any campaign, whoever is able to identify the behavior of each segment of the population and turn them into insights will triumph.

If we are hyper-connected all the time, then merchants, businessmen, politicians and government officials in general have a great challenge to listen to citizens permanently, to know what they dream of and what takes them away from sleep; Big data being a fundamental piece for governance, for mobilization, to promote consultations and for citizen participation.

There is no doubt that today we live in the era of Dataism.
