Hurtigruten lost more than NOK 600 million in the first quarter

Hurtigruten reports a loss of 37.1 million euros on the company’s operations in the first quarter. Furthermore, the board reports a loss of 23.5 million euros in financial expenses.

– Net loss in the first quarter was 60.2 million euros, compared to a loss of 56.5 million in the same quarter last year, the company writes in the quarterly report.

Since the start of 2020, the company has lost more than NOK 5 billion, writes E24. Last year, Hurtigruten lost 273.9 million euros, corresponding to around 2.79 billion kroner. The year before, the loss was NOK 1.7 billion.

With the pandemic in place, the management is now optimistic about the future. The company almost tripled its revenues from the same period last year, from 36 million to 97 million.

– The first quarter of 2022 was still strongly affected by the pandemic, but the countries in our core markets and our destinations moved closer to normalcy, says CEO Daniel Skjeldam of Hurtigruten Group in a stock exchange release.

The company writes that sales per May are 4 percent higher than at the same time in 2019, before the pandemic.
