Hurricane Laura “Incredibly Dangerous” Lands in the US Page all

LAKE CHARLES, KOMPAS.comHurricane Laura reportedly landed on AS, where he is deemed “extremely dangerous” because it is category four storms.

The arrival of the “monster” raised warnings of “inevitable” rising sea waves, as well as evacuation orders to hundreds of thousands of residents of the Gulf Coast.

According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), Hurricane Laura can bring winds of up to 240 kilometers per hour and flash floods in Louisiana.

The coastal town of Lake Charles was hit by torrential rain shortly after the NHC said the storm had landed at around 1am local time.

Previously, NHC had stated that Laura could hit Louisiana and Texas with “the inevitable increase in waves”.

The waves could reportedly be up to six meters high, with tornadoes able to form the southern edge of the weather system AFP Thursday (27/8/2020).

“Preparations to protect life and personal property must be completed as soon as possible,” the NHC said in its official statement.

From Wednesday (26/8/2020) to Friday (28/8/2020), 13 to 26 centimeters of rain is predicted to flush parts of the Gulf Coast.

Reported Sky News, in just 24 hours the storm’s strength increased by 90 percent, making it capable of flying cars like toys or knocking down buildings.

The bdai can reach about 64 kilometers inland, with waves up to 20 feet from normal.

More than half a million people have been ordered to evacuate, with around 100,000 settlements without electricity in Louisiana and Texas.

“It looks like this storm has turned into a terrible one,” Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards told The Weather Channel.

Meanwhile, Texas Governor Greg Abbot said the force of the sea storm was “unpredictable”, and called on citizens to protect themselves.

“Your valuables can be replaced. But your life is definitely not,” Abbot was quoted as saying in a press conference AFP.

The US National Guard said they had deployed more than 1,000 personnel to Texas to help prepare for the coming storm.

Among them is to place 20 aircraft and more than 15 shelters to deal with the hurricane category four.

The Texas cities that are obliged to evacuate are Beaumont and Port Arthur, which were by the center of the hurricane, and suffered heavy losses during Hurricane Harvey in 2017.
