Hungarian invasion of Bratislava: Alcohol ban? We’ll come drunk. Plus we’re allowed to have sex

The history of battles between Slovan Bratislava and Ferencvávoš Budapest began to be marked in the fans’ consciousness already in 1992, when in a heated duel at Tehelné polí, the Slovak police “calmed down” the Hungarian fans with batons. “It was one of the darkest chapters of European club football,” wrote the Hungarian website origo.hu.

Fortunately, nothing similar happened last Wednesday in the first match of the second round of the Champions League. In addition to the verbal scenes, the radical fans of the home team “only” got out with the banner “Stolen land. Stolen symbols. No history. Fuck Slovakia”, but there were no physical clashes between the two camps.

However, the fervent Ferencváros supporters are also going to support their stars at Tehelné polí, where they will try to atone for the home failure on Wednesday. However, in order not to repeat the thirty-year-old violent scenes, the organizers and the police are preparing for the match well in advance. The regulation of the Bratislava-Nové Mesto district, which prohibits the sale of all alcohol in the vicinity of the National Stadium, should also prevent indecency.

However, some supporters of the Hungarian champion definitely do not want to lose their alcohol and have already discovered suggestions on how to circumvent the measures on the nemzetisport.hu server. “Don’t worry guys. We’ll be drunk when we get to the stadium,” one of them responded. Another found the regulation positive. “Luckily they only banned us from alcohol and not sex.”

Slovan got into the mood for Wednesday’s key duel with a big win over Trenčín 4:0 and in the table they belong to fifth place after two rounds, Ferencváros will not start their competition until Sunday.

Belasích’s rematch with Ferencváros takes place on Wednesday from 20:30.
